Regarded as one of the most insightful artists of our time, musician, activist and actor Mos Def has captured the attention of critics and audiences alike with a celebrated body of work that has crossed all artistic genres—from music to the Broadway stage, film and television. For his next endeavor, THE ECSTATIC TOUR, the multi-faceted artist has teamed up with Garden Grown--an international media corporation that has produced and provided talent for hundreds of events worldwide--and Guerilla Union, the marketing and touring company that produces world-class hip-hop platforms Rock the Bells and Paid Dues. Music.”), SPIN (“The Ecstatic is easily his finest full length since Black on Both Sides”), TIME (“…full of the rhythm, exuberance and wit Mos Def showed on his early records.”) and GIANT (“a lyricist whose command of wordplay and delivery has ranked him among hip hop’s elite…[The Ecstatic] is ahead of its time.”), The Ecstatic also coincides with the 10-year anniversary of his seminal debut Black on Both Sides. About Mos Def:
In 1996, Mos Def became an underground favorite in the hip-hop world, which lead to his legendary collaboration with Talib Kweli. The two formed Black Star whose debut release would become one of the most critically acclaimed hip-hop albums of a generation. The following year, Mos released his solo debut, Black On Both Sides, which was certified gold and credited by critics as bringing hip-hop back to its soapbox roots. In 2004, he followed with The New Danger (Good Tree Media/ Geffen Records) which met with praise from Rolling Stone (The magazine gave the collection 4 Stars and hailed it as “Ghetto rock and righteous hip-hop.”) and it’s first single, “Sex, Love and Money” earned a 2005 Grammy nomination for Best Alternative/Urban Performance. Mos Def released True Magic (Good Tree Media/ Geffen Records) in late 2006, which brought the artist another GRAMMY nomination for Best Alternative/Urban Performance for the single “Undeniable.” Mos Def has also appeared in a variety of film and TV projects including Monster’s Ball, The Italian Job and in the critically acclaimed HBO movie Something the Lord Made, for which he received nominations for a 2004 Emmy Award for “Outstanding Lead Actor In A Miniseries Or A Movie,” a Golden Globe Award (Best Performance by an Actor in a Mini-Series or Motion Picture) and NAACP Award. Mos has also appeared in the feature films The Woodsman, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy (2005), 16 Blocks (2006), Dave Chappelle’s Block Party (2006), Michel Gondry’s Be Kind Rewind (2008), and Darnell Martin’s Cadillac Records (2008). Mos completed his Broadway debut in 2002 in the Tony-nominated, Pulitzer Prize-winning Topdog/Underdog and re-teamed with playwright Suzan Lori Parks and director George Wolfe for the off-Broadway play Fucking A, for which he was awarded an Obie Award. In addition to his acting credits, Mos has served as the host, music supervisor and co-executive producer for the HBO series Def Poetry, which returned for its sixth season in 2007. Def has also served as a writer, producer and actor on the MTV sketch comedy series Lyricist Lounge. Mos Def is working on the production of a book called Black, 2.0 by Mos Def. The production, a heavily illustrated and innovatively designed compendium of significant moments and movements, artifacts and icons of the past 35 years of black culture, is slated to be published in Fall 2008 (The Doubleday Publishing Group, part of Random House, Inc). Mos Def has also collaborated with Converse to design a line of sneakers. His signature sneakers feature laser-etched pictures of the Brooklyn Bridge and Manhattan skyline, and are available now in stores. In the summer of 2008, the artist announced a deal with Undercrwn to design a limited collection of apparel.

Brother Alis New Album and 2010 Tour Dates and Free Download

Brother Ali is leaking the title track off his upcoming full-length album "Us" today.
Download the single: "Us" (right click to download...)
In case you missed the "Us" video earlier this week peep it below.
Brother Ali’s last album, the critically acclaimed, The Undisputed Truth, was a landmark in hip-hop, an album that carried weight equally with critics and fans alike, an album of bold statements and bolder beats, politically and socially aware without being preachy. His new album, Us (09.22.09) (Rhymesayers Entertainment), is a progression that will make Brother Ali one of the most enduring figures in hip-hop; while still aware, Ali has turned his gaze inward, and started examining the human condition from the outside in. A profound personal glimpse into a vulnerability seldom seen or heard in music, Us touches on the strengths and flaws of the human condition, exploring drug abuse, divorce, homophobia and many more topics that most people are scared to touch in their own lives, much less on an album for the world to see.
As with previous endeavors, the beats here are courtesy of Ant, whose production work seems to be getting more soulful and lush by the minute. The guest appearances only accentuate Brother Ali’s strengths, with Chuck D, Freeway, Joell Ortiz and Stokley Williams of Mint Condition making strong appearances.
In support of the new album, Ali is embarking on a North American tour of epic proportions, enlisting the help of labelmates and collaborators Evidence (of Dilated Peoples, recently signed to Rhymesayers), BK One & Toki Wright. You can buy your tickets now through Friday from our special fan pre-sale! Head over to Artist Arena. When you purchase tickets this week you'll receive a coupon to pre-order the new Brother Ali record "Us" for a reduced price of only $9.99 + shipping! EVIDENCE SIGNS EXCLUSIVE RECORDING AGREEMENT WITH RHYMESAYERS ENTERTAINMENT
Grammy winning rapper and producer Michael "Evidence" Perretta signs multi album deal with Indie powerhouse Rhymesayers Entertainment. As one-third of the venerable Los Angeles Hip Hop staple Dilated Peoples, Evidence has spent the better part of his decade plus in the game, touring the globe and collectively selling well over 700,000 units. In addition to his Dilated work, Evidence has produced tracks for the Beastie Boys, Linkin Park, Defari, Planet Asia and more, including co-production on Kanye West's debut The College Dropout.
In 2007, Evidence set out to solidify his solo career with the release of the critically acclaimed The Weatherman LP. Followed up by 2008's The Layover EP and over 200 shows, Evidence has spent the last couple of years building a foundation of supporters, fan by fan. With this momentum Evidence knew he needed a team that could match his current pace and energy. When asked about his choice of partnering up with Rhymesayers Evidence explained, "This is the most natural move I could have made to further the evolution of my career, while maintaining my identity and passion for the music. Rhymesayers has a proven track record of being focused and dedicated to their artists and I'm excited to be a part of that."

Almost a year and Running WORLD OF UNDERGROUND HIP HOP

It's almost been a year that my blog has been running and I couldn't be any happier. My Youtube Channel and Search Engine Optimization has been a big part to my slight success of building traffic. I have also stuck to what I know best and that is underground hip hop and feel that its been a semi-successful blog, thus far. I just wanted to say thank you to everyone that visits my blog on a regular basis, because if you love music as much as I do then I'm sure you haven't been disappointed with the content on my blog. I hope to one day have a blog that I have regular comments and people that discuss underground hip hop. One day...

The album garnered critical acclaim and love from French music fans and became one of the best selling electronic releases of the year. His next move was to take his show live, with a four-piece band, and find a way to translate the cinematic feel of his music through the use of video. Building on the solid foundation in France, Wax Tailor licensed “Tales” to Decon in 2006 for North American distribution and continued touring across the globe, opening up for the likes of Aceyalone & RJD2. In 2007-2008, in addition to the release of his sophomore effort, “Hope & Sorrow,” WT & his musiciens made a worldwide tour of a 200 shows. After the recording of “Seize the day” the main theme from “PARIS” (Cedric Klapisch last movie), he produced a remix for ASA (Jailer) & remixed a Nina Simone track for a Verve label album to be released at the end of 2008. He’s currently in studio, working on 3rd album that will be released in 2009.
